Sales
When my Passion Becomes your Passion - I get Thrilled!
When Curiosity Turns Sales into Something Truly Meaningful – also to Non Sales People :)
A few weeks ago, I was in a business meeting that completely changed how the founder thought about sales.
He had always seen sales as something he needed to do, but he was not a fan of this task. He loves building businesses - the process of improving. But selling was not his favorite thing. To me that did not really make sense - with this passion selling should be exciting!
As we talked, I shared how I see sales differently.
For me, great sales conversations are built on three things:
Curiosity. Presence. Neutrality.
It is not about persuading or closing.
It is about understanding - being genuinely curious about the customer’s world, their business model, their challenges, their goals.
I told him:
“Sales is not about selling. It is about exploring new companies and seeing how you can create value together.”
Something clicked.
He paused, smiled, and said:
“You know, this reminds me of a TV program I loved as a kid - it was all about visiting different companies and learning how they worked. I used to find that fascinating!”
In that moment, sales transformed - from something he had to do, into something he was excited to do.
And honestly, that is one of the best feelings I know.
Every time I can help a business owner see how interesting sales really is, it fuels my own passion all over again.
Because while their passion might be the product or solution they have created - mine is helping them bring it to life through meaningful conversations that build real connection and value.
How do you feel about sales?
